A zine is a small, self-published booklet or mini-magazine made by individuals or small groups for non-commercial purposes, often using simple, inexpensive methods like photocopying. For this project we need to use traditional methods to create our 12 paged zine..

Initial Design Ideas

At the the beginning of designing my zine I was too focused on including as much information and facts about Chappell that I was not happy with the layouts I had. I then decided to experiment in different ways to make assets for the zine, then put them together.

Design Assets

With a star candle holder I found, I used this as a stamp to make star patterns.

I found some jewellery at charity shops in Carlisle, so I scanned them to make some patterns. I also use a graphite pencil to make some designs too.

Acetone Transfer

Using acetone I transferred images of Chappell for the cover my zine. I did several beginning tests with different filters to see which came out the best.

Redesigning

In the end my zine was not coherent - the front page did not match the rest of the pages, and it did not fit the brief. So I have decided to redesign my zine with my already made assets.
